Before Your Facial

To help you get the best results from your treatment, please follow these pre-care instructions before your appointment:

  • Avoid retinol, retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, and exfoliating products for 3-5 days before your facial unless otherwise advised.
  • Avoid waxing, threading, laser treatments, or chemical peels on the treatment area for at least 5-7 days prior.
  • Limit sun exposure and avoid tanning for several days before your appointment.
  • Come with clean skin if possible, free of heavy makeup.
  • Let me know about any skin sensitivities, allergies, medications, or recent treatments before your service.
  • If you’ve had Botox or fillers, please wait at least 2 weeks before booking your facial unless cleared by your provider.
  • If you are experiencing active cold sores, open wounds, severe irritation, or sunburn, please reschedule your appointment.
  • Hydrate well and avoid excessive alcohol the day before your facial for best results.

Important

Please inform me in advance if you are pregnant, using Accutane, or under a dermatologist’s care, so your treatment can be adjusted safely.

Immediate Aftercare (First 24 Hours)

  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to help flush out toxins and keep your skin hydrated from within.
  • Keep It Clean and Gentle: Do wash your face with a gentle cleanser, moisturizer and spf for the first few days after your facial. Use a gentle, non-abrasive cleanser. Avoid using exfoliants or any harsh skincare products.
  • Skip the Makeup: Let your skin breathe by avoiding makeup for at least 24 hours.
  • Avoid Heat and Steam: Steer clear of hot showers, saunas, and steam rooms as they can irritate your skin and exacerbate redness.

General Aftercare (First 48-72 Hours)

  • Sun Protection: Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher to protect your skin from UV damage, even if it's cloudy outside.
  • Moisturize Regularly: Use a hydrating, non-comedogenic moisturizer to maintain your skin’s moisture barrier.
  • Gentle Products Only: Continue using gentle skincare products. Avoid products with active ingredients like retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, and Vitamin C unless advised by your aesthetician.
  • Avoid Physical Activity: Refrain from strenuous exercise that causes sweating to prevent clogging your freshly cleaned pores. Exercise increases blood flow and sweating, which can irritate freshly treated skin and potentially disrupt the benefits of the facial.
  • No Exfoliation: Hold off on exfoliating your skin for at least 72 hours to avoid irritation.

Long-Term Care (Beyond 72 Hours)

  • Resume Regular Skincare Routine: Gradually reintroduce your regular skincare products, one at a time, to monitor how your skin reacts.
  • Hydrating Masks: Use hydrating and soothing masks once or twice a week to maintain moisture levels.
  • Avoid Picking or Popping: Refrain from picking at your skin or popping any pimples to prevent scarring and infection.
  • Healthy Diet: Maintain a balanced diet rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals to support skin health.
  • Regular Facials: Schedule regular facials as recommended by your esthetician to maintain and improve your skin's health and appearance.

Expected post-treatment effects include dryness, roughness, sensitivity, and purging (breakouts), which result from accelerated skin regeneration. These conditions should resolve within a week as your skin returns to its normal state.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your skin remains healthy, radiant, and well-cared for after your facial treatment. Always consult with your esthetician for personalized advice tailored to your specific skin needs and the type of facial you received.
